An In-Depth Review of the 2022 Ford Maverick

It feels like the 90s are coming back in a big way. Kids are wearing flannels, rock and roll is getting grungier, and small trucks are returning. Well, at least at Ford they are.

Enter the 2022 Ford Maverick. It is a small truck with big goals. It is a truck that will transport you back to the 90s due to its aesthetic qualities, but it will push you into the future with the new technology that is packed inside. There is a lot to love about this truck. Here, we’ll go over everything you need to know about the 2022 Ford Maverick.

Purchase Experience

One of the first things you need to know if you are looking for a Ford Maverick for sale is that you might have to wait to get your hands on it because of its popularity — but it is well worth the wait. If you are planning on buying a Ford Maverick, you should be making plans in advance and have an alternate mode of transportation in the meantime.

Currently, it could take up to six months from the time you order this vehicle to the time it gets to the lot. That wait might increase as demand goes up. But, with every purchase, the reviews get better and better. Here is what you have to look forward to.

Ford Maverick Build and Price

The Ford Maverick boasts an entry-level price, but you won’t be getting an entry-level truck.

This vehicle is built with the same frame as the Ford Escape and the Ford Bronco, but it isn’t just one of those two in disguise. A distinguishing factor is the unibody frame. Some truck purists might tell you that this means that “it’s not a truck”, but when you consider the size of the truck bed and the towing capacity of the Maverick, you’ll be quick to argue the other way.

This leads to another point: It’s a surprisingly big truck — especially after first glance. Considering that most people can see over the roof of the Maverick, the amount of space it allows for hauling things around is impressive. The bed itself is only six inches shorter than a Ford Ranger.

You might think based on those specs alone, you are looking for at least $30,000 for the Maverick, but no. The base price of the Ford Maverick is $19,995. With added features, the price can go up to $26,000.

Ford Maverick Tow Capacity

One of the ways that the Maverick pushes you into the future is that it boasts an impressive 42 MPG rating. This is with the hybrid engine, though you can choose to have an all-gas motor. Some might think that having a hybrid motor would diminish towing capacity, but the Ford Maverick has a surprising amount of giddy-up.

With the hybrid engine, the Maverick can tow up to 2,000 pounds. From what we gather, it doesn’t struggle to do this either. The Maverick has good acceleration and shows off its surprising capabilities when towing very heavy loads.

However, even though the Maverick has a surprising tow capacity, the ride may not be as smooth. If you are expecting the smoothness of one of Ford’s bigger trucks, you may not find that same exact feel here.

The 54-inch-long truck bed isn’t short, but it isn’t huge either. For some, they might want to invest in an extender if they plan on using the Maverick to haul big items.

Ford Maverick Truck Interior

The interior of the Maverick also doesn’t feel like a $20,000 truck. There are plenty of clever little perks (QR codes throughout to give you DIY ideas) and it feels spacious for such a small frame. A family of four fits comfortably in the Maverick. Most features are pretty intuitive, so you won’t have to worry about searching for buttons and dials either.
