Ford released a fully revamped version of the Escape crossover for 2020. Take a closer look at some of the new and improved features that make it a popular option in the compact SUV segment.
Upgraded Exterior Styling 
The Escape has been completely redesigned for 2020, showcasing sportier exterior features that help it stand out in a sea of competition. This compact crossover comes in five trim levels, allowing you to select the model that suits your needs. Standard exterior equipment on the base S trim includes LED signature lighting, dual chrome exhaust tips, a rear spoiler, black accents, and molded silver skid plates. You can also get your Escape outfitted with roof rails, a hands-free liftgate, LED fog lights, and chrome accents.
Powertrain Options
Ford brought the hybrid powertrain option back to the Escape for 2020, which is appealing to those who want a more efficient model or are concerned about their impact on the environment. The standard powertrain includes a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that produces 190 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. When you want more power, opt for one of the upper two trim levels equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This unit rates at 280 pound-feet of torque and 250 horsepower.
The hybrid option pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors working in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission. The combined output is 200 horsepower. Ford also offers a plug-in version of the Escape, which it calls the Escape PHEV. It’s available in the SE, SEL, and Titanium trims.
Appealing Interior
The 2020 Ford Escape’s cabin has also undergone enhancements and improvements, making it a bit roomier and more luxurious than previous iterations. Even the base trim comes equipped with cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, single-zone manual climate control, and several consoles for storage. The tech features include a six-speaker sound system with Ford’s SYNC infotainment system, three charging ports, and Bluetooth connectivity.
With the higher trim levels, features include leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system with SYNC 3, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and ambient interior lighting. A panoramic sunroof, a cargo mat, and an easy-access cargo shade are available as upgrades.
Innovative Safety Equipment
Every 2020 Ford Escape comes well-equipped with active and passive safety features that help keep you and your loved ones safe when you’re on the road. These features include a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability and traction control, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping system. A head-up display, which projects pertinent information to the underside of the windshield, keeps your eyes ahead for improved safety. It’s available as an optional upgrade.
